A Unique Terroir
Terroir is a fundamental dimension of Cru Vallet wines
All vineyard plots undergo a careful selection process based on strict criteria. To be eligible for Cru Vallet status, vineyard plots must be located on steep, sunny slopes with thin soils to ensure that wines have a strong local identity.
Among the metamorphic rocks that can be found throughout Cru Vallet sites, albitic micaschist – of both the black and white varieties – is the most common. Here, the vines take root between the sheets of micaschist, drawing out everything this unique and singular terroir has to offer.
This rock encourages excellent ripeness in the grapes and gives the wines beautiful structure and incredible ageing potential.
